The Gaslight Square Entertainment District ran along Olive near Boyle and was known for its gas lit street lamps and Victorian embellished architecture. Up and coming poetry, comedy, and music acts started in the many bars and clubs, including, Miles Davis, Barbara Streisand, Woody Allen, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Dick Gregory, and the Smothers Brothers.
The area that made up Gaslight Square is now a great tree lined neighborhood section of the CWE.
